Re: Test News
The New Era of Canin began in a Golden age when wolves walk on four paws and pack life remained abundant aside from the natural struggle the four seasons of nature provided them. They hunted as a pack, lived like a pack, defended as a pack. The Four packs that inhabited the land of Canin had unique ranks and way of life to survive, but one thing remained common ground. They held a strong belief in Gods they believed represented not only each element that brought balance to the world but also themselves. Unnamed, each pack came together under a grove of Oak trees that represented the center of Canin and praised the Canine Gods who are rightly named for their element and purpose. Together, Wolf and God seemed to have peace. That is, until the rise of Mundanes.
Wolves were not the only known creation of Canin. Mundanes, humans, also inhabited parts of Canin and thus, hunted the wolves of Canin for meat and furs during the Stone Age. It was this act that heated the God of Destruction, Fenrir, to stand before the Goddess of Earth and Creation, Joro who explained that the cull of wolves in Canin was necessary for balance to continue. For many years the culling continued and the wolf God watched as his beloved wolves suffered at the mercy of Joros creation. Outraged, Fenrir staged a coup with his Kin Wolf Gods and began the slow and treacherous downfall of Canin as history recalls.
Fenrir stood before Joro and decreed there be peace in Canin by creating Walkers who would become the Guardians of Canin and become a symbol of peace between Mundanes and wolves for an eternity. The peace treaty meant that wolves and humans could live in harmony as walkers and not solely their feared animal forms. Joro agreed and sent the message to a human Shaman who relayed her message. Peace however was never foretold.
THE MAKINGS OF WAR
One by one, Fenrir assigned each Guardian a God to worship and praise whilst they kept their "framed peace". It was then that Joro discovered Fenrirs' plan to bring about Ragnarök, destruction of Canin as she knew it. The time to deceive Fenrir came when war not only erupted between Mundanes and Walkers but also the Gods themselves.
Fenrir and his two sons, Sköll, God of the Moon, and Hati, God of the Sun, raged war for power against their father, their lust for power more important than the family itself. Meanwhile, a sinister plot cooked its way through as the youngest of the Gods, Geri and Freki chose their deviance differently from the rest. Masters of greed itself, they wanted power over Canin to prove they could rule a kingdom, despite their loose ties to Fenrir and the others. The twins looked more dog than a wolf and thus ostracized from their more wolf-like cousins. Warg shared a similar fate and vowed to serve the Twins as depicted for his Servant nature in the history of Canin.
While Sköll and Hati kept Fenrir blind and Joro grieved her dismay towards her foolish act of trust towards Fenrir, Geri and Freki went to the youngest of the Guardians and installed the words of malice and greed into the Guardian that would turn him against his brothers and sisters, thrusting the land of canin into a bloody war. Fenrir had already planted the seed and, with his inherent lust for greed, the walkers turned on one another.
OPPORTUNITY AND JUDGEMENT
In her solitude, Joro sobbed. She didn't see the opportunity to act until three years into the war. Scarred and divided, Canin looked barren, the forests burned, the smell of death thick in the air, even Mundanes fell into the fray as slaves under Morgrim to aid his army, an act that would fuel the rage and rise of Wolfsbane decades later. Joro realized that while Fenrir fought his battle against his kin, Joro created the fifth Guardian in secret. Akeyna, a Walker entrusted with the power of the elements went to each Guardian who suffered under Morgrim's rule and recruited each of them to stand against Morgrim and his forces. Reluctantly, they agreed. Joro had discovered that Morgrim granted his magic, the Water Element, likely stolen from Joro by Warg in her grief, and thrust the lands of Canin into a never-ending winter wasteland. Together, the Guardians turned against their brother and sealed his powers into an artifact known as the Winter Shard and imprisoned Morgrim until death took him some years later.
By the time Fenrir had realized that his Guardians had hearts and Ragnarok diminished, he had already been imprisoned as well in the depths of the underworld after Joro enlisted the others to aid her cause bringing about balance to Canin once more. As for Geri and Freki, they screamed for vengeance against Joro and freed Fenrir to take up his revenge but Joro had disappeared and Fenrir tasked himself to search for her while Canin recovered from Fenrirs War.
Many decades past and Mundanes dwindled some walkers despite the damage and suffering the Mundanes experienced. Society evolved and Wolfsbane emerged while, due to their ancestry, the Walkers created their own "silent" war against each other by the form of Fenrirs' War and Akeynas Rebellion. Meanwhile, the other wolf Gods remained ever watchful as did Fenrir still worked to bring about Ragnarok, no matter the cost. With new Leaders at the head of the newly created Organizations in a modern 2020 era, many gates remain unopened for the fate of Canin and all who inhabit her.
